Texas Holdem has some specific rules that need to be followed. Before any gameplay can take place, the players will need to ante up, which is when they contribute a certain amount of money to the pot. All of the money in the pot will eventually go to the winner. After the players have anted up, the dealer will then deal two cards to all of the players.
After the hole cards are dealt, the players can then decide whether or not they want to call, raise, or fold. If two or more players decide to call or raise, then it’s the turn of the person directly to the left of the dealer to start a round of betting. During the round, the players can call, raise, or fold, but they cannot check when the first turn of betting takes place.
After the first round is finished, the dealer will deal three community cards in the middle of the table. This is called the "flop." After the flop, another betting round takes place, and the player to the left of the dealer will start this round. Once the second round is over, the dealer will deal another card, which is called the "turn." Another round of betting can then take place before the fourth and final community card is dealt. This card is called the "river." After the river is dealt, the last round of betting can take place before the showdown, which is when all remaining players can show their hole cards and the best poker hand is declared the winner of the pot.
